Can you share next of kin role after a death?

I'm currently helping some young adults in my family deal with the sudden death of a parent. Logistically & emotionally it will be easiest if we can divide the duties of the n.o.k between us all - is this legally ok? Or does it need to be one person's name on all documents? Thanks.

"next of kin" is not a technical term when it comes to post-death arrangements. The executor under the will is entitled to administer the estate (if no will, someone has to apply to court to administer the estate).
