I've done something g really silly. I was caught speeding a while ago. Didn't have the money for the fine st the time so I put the ticket to one side meaning g to deal with it at payday. I lost the ticket and forgot.

Now it appears I should have been in court and so a warrant has been issued. The police have phoned to say that I have to go to the station and be locked up in the cells overnight to appear in court the next day.

Anyone know what's likely to happen to me? I have no other convictions - no prior experience of dealing with the criminal justice system,

Frankly I'm terrified. I know I've been stupid and must have thrown letters away without opening them, because I genuinely had no idea I was supposed to be in court. The original fine was £100 and 3 points.

I'm so scared.

I'm glad it's all over for you now. Don't be too hard on yourself, we all make mistakes. X

Glad things are sorted now. Like what other posters have said, we all make mistakes. Never let a stumble in the road be the end of the journey Flowers

It is over, put it behind you now. I was thinking of you overnight . As others have said, don't be too hard on yourself . Flowers

PetalMettle · 22/03/2017 20:01

Flowers take care OP and don't be hard on yourself

sashh · 22/03/2017 20:17

Glad it's over, and glad you are OK.

CactusFred · 22/03/2017 20:25

Wow. Glad. You're ok OP.

This could act as a warning to many of us... so easy to miss a letter or put off paying and forget!

piginboots · 22/03/2017 22:31

Glad to hear you're ok OP

gamerchick · 22/03/2017 22:36

I don't ever want to go through that again. It was awful. I do understand it's completely of my own making and need to make some huge changes

A good start would to start opening letters Wink or at least get your bloke to open them if you can't face it.

Good luck, glad it's over.

Goingtojail · 24/03/2017 01:16

Yes it opening mail = not the smartest move.

Struggling a bit to cope now. Sounds silly after just one night but the sound of banging doors and vans are causing a physical reaction.

Appt tomorrow to start getting some therespy in place to sort out underlying issues.

Thank you BlushFlowers

Well done for facing up to it and getting it over and done with. It can't have been easy.

Broken11Girl · 24/03/2017 02:24

OP I want to say thanks for posting this thread. It's a useful resource for others going through what you have gone through. I also want to say that I am a hard nut and a very robust person but when my DDad developed dementia and had to go into a home and I was dealing with his matters and effects as well as seeing him so ill, I was reduced to an anxious mess and left a few letters unopened for a few days here and there as I was paying for his care and getting attorney etc. so I understand the anxiety. It was hell. Get some professional help but you sound really sound. Flowers

PetalMettle · 24/03/2017 07:41

I think it's understandable you're struggling. After my ds was in hospital I struggled when there was hospital stuff on tv etc. I think that will die down and the counselling will help as it will with the other stuff

Lissette · 24/03/2017 14:47

Going just tell yourself that you are really safe and ground yourself in the moment when you hear those sounds. Well done on taking the first steps to untangle issues. You've had a lot on this week and you've faced it all. Flowers
