Fake social media accounts sending sexual messages to minors

Anyone up to date with the new communications acts etc. Someone has set up a fake social media account in my DD12 's name and has sent sexual messages to another 12 year old girl. The police are saying the only victim is the person the message was sent to - I Think the messages are illegal in themselves.

The messages may be illegal but that doesn't make your daughter a victim. She did not receive the messages. The recipient of the messages is the victim. For your daughter to be a victim without receiving the messages it would be necessary to show that the sender intended to cause her annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.
