Certified copy of a will - is it legal?

Hi, hope someone can help please?

I have a copy of a will of my FIL. Its a certified copy (of a copy!) from the solicitor that drew up the will but they didn't hold the original. We cannot find the original anywhere.

Probate is required, but is this certified copy legal or do we have to proceed as if no will exists?

TIA for any advice

Certified by a solicitor? Should be fine.

Don't know about England but would not be sufficient in Scotland

Thank you so much for your advice. Local office thinks it will be OK so that's good Smile

Appreciate your replies
