Legality of filming someone in my own home?

Hey,

Just a quick question. I suspect a housemate of stealing from me, and want to put up a camera in my room while I'm away next weekend.

Is it legal to hide a camera in my room, and if he does come in and take something, would I be able to use that as evidence in court?

I ask because I remember reading somewhere that if you recorded someone without their permission it was inadmissible in court. But surely that can't be true?

Perfectly legal. Go ahead.

It's legal - it's your room, isn't it?

But why not put a lock on the door, too?
