neighbour has attached his new fence to my garage and is planning to rerender the side of my garage on his boundry

My garage is totally detached. Neighbours was next to it but detached. He demolished his garage and moved it further back. Just put in a new fence and attached it to my garage. He has also told me he will be rendering the side of my garage that is on his side.

Firstly I don't really want the fence attachedto my garage as eventually I will be doing the same and demolishing and moving back. I'm annoyed that he didn't ask but I don't want him to carry on treating the side of my garage as his own property in case he decided to object when I go to demolish it and rebuild further back.

Am I right to have any concerns?

Yes, write to him and tell him not to affix a fence or render to your garage as you're going to be moving it. You don't have to specify when, actually you don't even have to say you're going to be moving it - but I read your other thread where you said you wanted ok ongoing relations with him.

yes you are right but you need to act immediately or your compliance will be regarded as acceptance.

You need to write a letter to neighbour stating how surprised you were to see the fencing had been attached. Give dates if possible. Say that you weren't consulted even though it's your property and even if you had been consulted you would not have agreed.

Say that you expect the fencing to be removed within one week - you don't need to give a reason. And say that if it is not, then you will remove it yourself.

I also posted on your other thread. Do check your deeds to see what they say, if anything, about all your boundaries. Also look at that gardenlaw.co.uk thread I linked to. Eye opening.

So the old boundary ran between the garages, but now he's moved it closer to your side so that it is now your garage? Look at all the title plans you can and then get him to remove the fence and reinstate it where it should be. Or do it yourself. It's on your land after all.

Thanks yes will be acting asap. I have been quiet about it for the last two weeks since it has been done as I was very annoyed that there was no fence for several months so it was better than nothing.

I'm starting to take advice and getting a paper trail.

Have fired off a letter to the council and will be asking him informally to remove it.

I'm guessing writing to the council to say I'm not happy leaves a paper trail to help with problems in the future?

On what basis are you writing to council ? They tend not to get involved in boundary disputes but will for planning and buildings regs.

More about the windows of the new extension (tripple) that all face my property and are clear glass. Writing also about the size of their garage as it has increased massively and this wasn't any part of the planning permission.

Don't bet on it. Have a search on here for gymbalow. Op's neighbour has a whole host of "guests" housed in an unofficial annexe.

Ha I've heard so much about this gymbalow and read so many of the threads but disappointed all the photos of it have gone! Its a big double guarage but I'm out in Essex so not quite the London prices that would make it worth doing that.
