I know you can request a copy of the will from the probate office but is it possible to find the value of an estate?

Thanks.

The grant will state the value of the estate, net and gross

Thanks Fleur Flowers What is the grant and where is it and how do you get hold of it?

You will need to apply to the probate registry - there is guidance on the gov.uk website as there are various ways of going about it.

The grant of probate is the legal document issued by the court when a will has been proved. It will state the net and gross values of the estate excluding the value of jointly owned assets. You can apply for a copy together with the will for £10 via the government website. You will need the name and year of death of the person in question.
