my ex friend owes me money....

I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice in regard to my ex employee and friend owing me money...how do I get it back???

I have asked, reminded and been fairly tolerant given that she won't even speak to me. She promised payments that haven't been made and I'm in a situation where I want and need it back.

I am considering employing a debt collector privately...anyone any better ideas or experience of this? She owes me over 1k... Any ideas welcome, thank you

Send her a letter recorded delievery saying that she has until a given date to repay all monies owe otherwise you shall be taking her to small claims court to retrieve all monies owed and the cost of the court process make sure you keep your reciept and proof (screen shot) that she has signed and if she still refuses then take her to court.

Do what crocs says. debt collectors can only enforce ONCE you have sued and have a judgment so no point in instructing one yet. If she does not pay up in 7 days following the special delivery letter then go to moneyclaimsonline and register and then start a court action against her.

Do you definitely have something (text/email/letter) confirming she owes the money and acknowledges the debt?

If she has no money and you get a ccj against her, they will only award you what she can afford eg, £5 a month etc

All good advice, thank you. I have texts and emails where she acknowledges that she owes me the money so no problem there.

I'm upset about the money itself because I could really do with it but I'm more upset that she expects me to put up with not being spoken to and no effort to start repaying when she promised. I don't think I'll ever lend money like that again but she was desperate and I had some savings... :0(
