Neighbour building new higher wall next to boundary - anything I need to do?

The side of my house is the boundary between my house and next door. At the back of the our houses there's a low wall built on my neighbour's land up to the boundary which seems to be cemented to my house. There's a fence on top of this wall with the fence post on my side level with my house.

My neighbour came around to tell me that he was taking the small wall down and replacing it with a higher wall.

What I'm wondering is is he entitled to cement this higher wall to my house as the current lower one is at the moment. I'm a little concerned as they have sons who play football against a brick wall at the bottom on their garden and am wondering if they do this with the new wall will we feel it in my house.

Tell them to leave a small gap?

Your neighbour is not allowed to erect a fence or wall on your land. Must be on their land/side of the boundary.

Ivy, depending on its situation, that solution might have issues with damp between the walls, weakening the structures.

Yes really good point, I was thinking along the same lines but thinking that if the neighbour continued the existing wall upwards and it was attached it would cause damp etc.

Have you looked on the specialist garden disputes web site yet OP? Is he the sort of neighbour you could have a chat about it with?
