Hi can you help? I've been a total muppet. I got my UK driving licence in the dark ages, before photo ID, so I just had the paper version. I don't drive often so never updated it to the paper one. It was registered at my parents house, where they still live.
I've since changed my name (though a change of name deed) and moved abroad, and I just thought I should really get this sorted.
I'm flying to the UK tomorrow. Just had a look and I can't find the sodding licence. So can I apply for a new one, on the basis, that I've lost the old one AND my name has changed? What do I need to take with me?

I have a certified change of name deed - only problem is the address there is the flat I lived at years ago and not my parent's address. I also don't mind if the DVLA deliver a new passport to my parents.

Hi

You can do it online but you'll need to know your driving licence numbers. Firstly, register on the portal, then change your address.

Then change your name.

Then apply for a new licence claiming it was lost (it is).

My expired when I was overseas and had the wrong address, and I changed my name. It took a while to sort out but I now have a shiny new driving licence.
