Car accident in supermarket car park - has anyone managed to get the CCTV footage?

I was involved in an accident that was not my fault in a supermarket car park. The other driver is claiming it was my fault. I have written to the store to ask for footage but they have not replied. Has anyone had any success in getting footage?

Can you say for certain that the CCTV cameras caught the collision/lead up? You can get the footage but it's covered by DPA regulations and you might struggle to get the footage as an individual. I've had to request footage as part of my job and it's quite and involved process in proving you have a legitimate interest in the footage.

I'd suggest you go to the store, ask to speak to a manager, explain that you are looking to get a copy of the footage & can they check they have it/don't erase it. Once you have confirmation they have it/it will be preserved, you then get your ins co to contact them for a copy of the footage. If necessary they can get an investigator to go to the store to view it, if the store are reluctant to release it.

It's unusual for an organisation to release CCTV footage to an individual but they might agree to release it to an insurance co for the purpose of investigating the circumstances.

Just seen this.
Its covered by dpa. I would suggest you ask your insurance company to request it or the police.
Stores in my company are not allowed to release cctv images without authorisation.
