Also posted in Money, but I think the legal aspect of the issue is what I'm really wanting to understand.
Separated from ex P 3.5 years ago. I borrowed money from her in the few months after we split. Part of the debt was a car with an agreed value, the rest was cash. Total value of debt approx thirteen thousand but could vary by three thousand as borrowed in various installments which I have no record of.
I've paid her back about four thousand. Part of the repayments were reduction of debt in lieu of cash when I worked for her.
The debt, or part of it, was recorded in an exercise book which is at her house. And which she won't give me a copy of.
I know I made a mistake in not keeping accurate records. I also intend to repay the full debt. But I want to know what's left to pay?
I've asked and asked. How can I get the info I need/want? She has threatened to "get her solicitor involved" if I stop payments - would this be a good idea, would this make her produce the records or at least come to a clear agreement about what's left to pay?
