Is it legal for the Balliff to take a fee without my knowledge

Just that nrp pays through a Balliff as he has been non compliant for years so the csa resorted to several liability orders which he ignored so the csa sent the balliffs after him.
He made an arrangement with them and paid monthly. At no point did the csa inform me that the Balliff would take a fee from the payment resulting in an £80 loss from child support leaving a payment of £19 which is a hell of a lot to loose.

That's how the Bailiff makes their money Sad They should have been upfront about the fees though, so it's worth complaining. They would have charged him too.

Apparently not, they haven't charged him at all. They have taken their fee from the payment due to my child.
I asked the csa and they said this is a new thing brought in at the beginning of the month. But they have failed to tell any of the rp. They will also take payment each time they attend or tried to make contact with the nrp and he fails to answer them. This will leave rp covering the fee to the Baliff out of the maintanance payment. It's bloody disgusting and very sneaky that the balliffs see fit to exploit child maintanance payments

Shock Have you posted this in lone parents? This is disgraceful!

You could do with getting your MP involved with this one, it's taking food from a child's mouth! Angry Angry

I can't find anything online to say that this is right. I think you need to seek legal advice about this. Everything I can see says the bailiff fees are added onto the debt, so the NRP pays them, not that the RP (and the child) pay. It wouldn't be any sort of deterrent for the NRP otherwise as there's no punishment for them.

great, so now the only people making any money out of the CSA are bloody bailiffs! What is the point of that department? Costs a fortune to run and then the people it is there to protect get nothing because the bailiffs get it - could only happen in this country!

I am so angry that the Balliff has taken £80 from my child for their fees. I don't think that a lot of rp are aware of this going. They have left me with a £20 payment this month!!!

I'm not convinced that this is correct. Do you have something in writing to say that they can do this? I think you really should go and see the CAB.

Bailiffs need paying but normally their fee is added onto the debt!
