What happens if a speeding ticket get's sent to your old address?

I was late to change the address on my logbook when I moved house. I didn't do it until over four months after I had moved out because my log book had been lost in the move and I stupidly held out finding it so I wouldn't have to pay the replacement fee. When I taxed my car at the end of Feb, I gave up looking for it and paid to have it done at the post office who sent it off. That was 6 weeks ago. No logbook came. I contacted the DVLA who said that I needed to send a new form because they didn't receive my paperwork from the post office. My car is STILL registered to my old house. So, if any speeding tickets or simkilar are issued, that;s where they will go. What would happen? I don't speed a rule but there have been times where I am confused by speed limits. I also get quite 'twitchy' on duel carriage ways with speedier drivers and will speed upt to 80 or a touch over when overtaking to avoid them. Never had a speed ticket to date. Would I know by now. Worried and not sure what to do. :(

Have you changed your driving licence over ?

Not sure how it works, but if you notify the DvLA of change of address, they only issue you a driver's licence with the new address. Apparently you have to actively ask at another dept within the DVLA for the address onogbook to be changed as well.
Boggles the mind.

The normal rule that you must be notified within 2 weeks of an offence (if there's no accident) will not apply if you haven't updated the address on the V5. I think it might also be an offence not to keep your address up to date.

If you get a ticket the letter will go to the old address as it's the registered keeper's address. If no reply then it goes to court, fine and points. Eventually, when it catches up with you, contact the court and they should let you make a statutory declaration that you didn't know anything about it and it will be revoked. But you need to do everything you can to sort it out .

Have you/can you set up a mail reditrection ?

driving license and V5 are separate things - not everyone who has a licence has a car registered in their name.

illegal not to change both. BTW I hope you've also told your insurers that you've moved.

and do stop driving at 80 to overtake. The law applies to you as well. Try anticipation, you would waste less fuel too.
