Can they change the price after I paid?

Hope someone can advise me.

Yesterday I ordered two personalised items online at £10 each, and paid through paypal. I had no reason to assume wrong price as many similar items on the website were up at the same price.

Last night I recieved an email from the seller that they should actually be £20 each, and I could either pay the difference or have a different (inferior) item.

There are no T&C on the site saying there is a different contract time to payment, therefore can I insist on having the items for the original price?

Its a small business, who have given me great products before, but I am really unhappy with the price doubling

I'm not sure you can insist on getting the items at the price you paid (when I looked into errors in pricing when I had my online business it was a bit of a grey area), but you can insist on a full refund of all costs under the distance selling regs if you do it quickly. I probably would have honoured the price you paid as a matter of goodwill, but I'm not sure that it is compulsory to do so.

It depends on what the website says along with any emails you have received. If they have said something that indicates your offer has been accepted (e.g. "your goods will be despatched within 24 hours") they have to abide by the price. However, if they have only said that your order has been received and is being processed they have not accepted your offer and are entitled to change the price.

To be honest, if it was me dealing with a small business who had previously given good service I wouldn't start trying to insist on any rights I may or may not have. I would either pay the extra or ask for my money back.
