There's a fraud case at the Old Bailey I'm interested in

I have a number of questions.

It starts on my day off, if I went along would there be anything to see?
Would I easily get into the public gallery?
Does anything much happen on the first day?
Would the defendants know I was there?

I mostly want to know exactly what they are accused of. It's mortgage fraud but there are lots of rumours and I want to know the specifics of what they (allegedly) did and how they went about it.

Also what kind of personal gain they got from it

Would I learn any of this on the first day of the trial?
Are there better ways to find out?

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to answer

Depends on popularity re getting in. First day likely to start late and lots of stop starting. Defendants can likely see you if they are present in court in the dock.

Sorry posted too soon. You might get that from the opening speeches if they get round to them. How long is the trial?

You would get useful details from the indictment (the precise criminal charge and a very short summary of the details) which I imagine would have to be read out on the first day at some point. This would be unlikely to tell you how much the accused are alleged to have profited though.

Thank you. Is there a way I can get hold of a copy of the indictment?

Not sure. It is a public document-the court may be able to tell you. It is officially the Central Criminal Court and you can get information here.
