Successful tax credit appeal tips

In need of top tips for successful appeals please! I have had ongoing issues with tax credits for 6 months now. After spending 4 weeks thinking it was all over, a penalty determination notice has landed on the doormat today for £1500 for failure to supply evidence and overpayment. This is despite them using said evidence to previously scrap overpayment and reinstate childcare costs and depositing back payment into my account. Beyond done with this and according to compliance team the only way forward is appeal. The appeal info lacks any kind of content on what they are looking for, so all of you who have have had your appeal upheld what worked for you???

TIA

Get in touch with your MP and get an appointment with his/her caseworker and take all your paperwork. HMRC will snap into action with input from the MP.

Failing that, go to CAB or other local welfare rights place who will help you.

If they have once scrapped the overpayment then the penalty notice might be a computer generated mistake with any luck.
