Can I ask for an adjournment in Family Court due to instructing new legal?

Hi,

I am involved in a care proceedings case in respect of my youngest. My previous legal team did not act on my instructions and my best interests were undoubtedly not being served with them so I have gone elsewhere. I instructed a new legal team a fortnight ago after making a complaint about my previous team. The legal aid certificate is in the process of being transferred but is taking time thanks to my area piloting a new "registration number" scheme.
My new legal are intending on applying for new evidence and I am due to file my final statement this Friday. There is an IRH in a fortnight.
Can the judge grant an adjournment of the irh, or at least grant me an extension to file my statement in view of the fact I have instructed new legal? Or will I be told to sling my hook?
Thanks.
