want to take on new tutor for DS but he is from Canada...

...what does he need to have on his visa? I have looked at the Border Agency website and it goes on at length about employment, what you need to do as an employer to sponsor a skilled employee etc - nothing at all that I can find about self-employment, and this tutor would be self-employed doing about 2 days per week. Can he work lawfully in this capacity? I suspect not but am not expert in this field.

What is the legal basis of the Canadian's stay in the UK? It all depends on this.You need to write out the conditions written either on his entry stamp or entry clearance, then repeat it here.
