How long do you have to keep your own busines bank statements and account information?

I am trying to clear a room out for our pfb and the cupboard is over run with files that I am sure don't have to be there.

i think you have to keep them for seven years by law in case you are ever audited. i keep my for 9-10 years then get rid,

As advised by my accountant the current year and the preceding 6.

I've always kept mine for 6 years after the year end.
