DD had a very expensive mobile for Christmas which she dropped down the toilet at school yesterday.
we've dried it out in the airing cupboard but its def had it.
New phone. came with insurance through virgin but all was discussed on the phone and I seem to have no proof . My other option is my bank account provides me with insurance up to 750 .They say they will try and fix it and replace it if unable.
Virgin mobile will want £70 excess and Natwest 50.
we could also claim on our house contents insurance but I think that's £100 excess..
I'm not sure who is best to go through. am thinking maybe Virgin.
has anyone had a similar exp and was is dealt with promptly ? Virgin are a nightmare to get through to and I just envisage problems ?
Cheers

Have you tried putting it into a sealed bag with loads of dry rice? Worth a try, my friend put hers through a full washing machine cycle and it worked for her.
Just make sure it's all turned off and don't try switching back on for a few days

Have you registered the phone on your Natwest insurance? If so I've used theirs to claim before and it was sorted very quickly, however if you forgot to register it then it wouldn't be covered. I would try to avoid claiming on your home insurance, as it may increase your premiums, and make it harder to change provider.

Just as an aside, Is there a reason you're paying for virgin insurance when you're getting it included in the bank account package?

Aw thanks.
ell virgin included it anyway in the contract they said all new premium contracts came with insurance . Only got the phone at Christmas. And last week i Upgraded my bank account and we get free mobile insurance so no point in cancelling either iykwim . The new Natwest one I did check as years ago I didn't register like you say with a lloyds account so even tho I got free insurance I couldn't use it ! with the Natwest new one you don't have to register I did check but still held my breath when enquiring ! Just need proof of purchase ie the receipt which I have and registering only speeds up the process nothing else (phew) Both I've discovered will try and fix the phone first ,which is now in a sealed bag of rice !
