We live in a village that runs along the bottom of a valley in the countryside. There is a large hotel about half a mile up the road, about half way up the valley side. The hotel is a wedding venue, and every single Saturday night they let off fireworks, at least one session between 8.30pm-11pm. Often more than one session. The noise reverberates around us massively and wakes my children up (they are 4 and 1). It then takes a while to settle them again (especially the 1 yo), before they are woken up again. This has been going on since we moved here (9 years), although has only been a problem to me since my 4 yo was born.

I spoke to our Local Authority Environmental Health people about a year ago. They told me that the hotel was doing nothing wrong if the fireworks were finished by 11pm, and that I am the only person to have ever complained.

It is now beginning to really hack me off, my children barely sleep as it is! is there anything I can do?

I am in the Wedding industry, outside caterer not a venue.
Unfortunatly there is no much you can do as the law as I believe is that fireworks must be finished by 11pm.
However we had a local Wedding venue near us that the council shut down due to lots of complaints from locals as the guests parked on the road outside(so they didn,t get blocked in) making the road single lane for a stretch nearly a mile long!!!
May be worth talking to the council who licenced the hotel for weddings? Also talk to others in the locality with youg children, pets, horses sheep etc and see if you can canvess support?
