what if you buy something with a credit card and.....

it breaks down after say two/three years or earlier and the company you bought it from wont help, can i get the money back from the credit card company or is there a time limit.
ive just this minute ordered a sewing machine online and now im thinking what do i do if it breaks down and the company wont help me out. as usual ive jumped in with both feet and now im worried as id never heard of the company but thought just go for it!!!!!

If it costs over £100 (and less than £30,000 but I doubt you would pay that much for a sewing machine!) the credit card company is jointly liable with the retailer for any problems. However, if the item is over 6 months old it is up to you to prove that the problem is due to a fault in the product as sold and not down to wear and tear or misuse.

thank you so much for the reply. ive tried tooking online for info on this topic but cant find exactly what im looking for,
i paid £206 on my credic card. lets hope i never need to complain.
