Second hand car dealers, DVLA and Bailiffs

We took the second hand car dealership to court using small claims court which we won, claim is now up to £2.5k which we would like back, however they are saying that they don't own the cars and that they are acting as an agent for people selling. Lovely lady at court has checked with her friend at DVLA, none of the cars that they have currently are registered with DVLA, so 'ownerless' at the moment. We would like our money back and the bailiffs will go and put an order on and take away cars to auction but we have to pay another sum to indemnify the court.

I guess what I am worried is that if the cars are taken and sold to pay the debt then will the original owners have any come back on us for money. The lovely lady is hoping that once an order to take the cars have been given then they may pay up.

They will own the cars in all likelihood. The registered keeper does not have to be the owner. A car dealer will not register themselves as the new keeper. They wait until someone buys the car then transfer registration to them.
