hi my 21 yo dd has to go to court to give evidence against her ex bf. He has a drink problem and regularly goes on benders. A few weeks ago he turned up at her house drunk and was very abusive to her. He held a knife at her, there 1 yo dd was there also. The police were called and he was arrested and had to go to court the next day. He has to go back to court in september and my dd has to give evidence.

She has anxiety issues and is really nervous about going to court, she wrote to the procurator fiscal to ask if she could be excused from going, explaining about her mental health issues. She still has to attend court and she's telling me that she'll go to court but refuse to speak. Will she get into trouble if she refuses to say anything?

do you have a phone number for anyone in the witness care team?

ask about special measures - im not sure how it works after the case file has gone to court but there are provisions that can be made for "vulnerable" or "intimidated" witnesess.
