I sent off to change my son's surname on his passport ( already had deed poll for 2 years) his bio dad has not been in touch in 4 years. The change was from my maiden name to my married name ( been with my husband since son was 1 and we have 2 daughters ) I got a letter last week asking for more information ( I knew it was a long shot but didn't want to pursue a court order before trying) and I am now playing the waiting game.
My worry is that if they do not accept the name change will they return his old passport? ( it had not expired ) we are going away in September and it's not enough time to get an order and a passport. Someone told me once they have it they won't return it! Help!
