been asked to be a trustee for my adult SN cousin

My uncle & aunt have asked myself & my brother to form a trust with two of my cousins, sibs to a third cousin who has learning difficulties. I am seeing them next weekend so will talk it all through with them then, but I realised I have no idea what being a trustee would entail. Is it just looking at bank statements & administering allowances? Is it possible to dissolve a trust, & is it likely to matter if I am not living in the UK?

A solicitor should be drawing up the trust deed. I suggest you make a note of all your questions and put them to the solicitor. That's what they're there for.

IMO if you're not even in the same country it would be hard for you to exercise sufficient control. There's more to it than you think-eg responsibility to invest the funds properly.

Thanks Collaborate. I am in the UK now but might not be for the rest of my life, my cousin is 10 years younger than me, it's a long commitment i suppose.
