I had a car crash, do I have to use the solicitors my insurance company appointed?

They seem a bit rubbish from what the reviews on the internet say.

DH thinks his ex used them years ago and has misgivings.

Thank you.

Not sure as me and dp used some who were rubbish who were appointed by insurers and we have since used a different solicitors for the same crash who have been much better ( for something they forgot about) worth asking if you can change.

Ring the insurers and ask them. They probably have a panel and might refer you to another firm on the panel.

Years ago I used to do insured claims (not motor claims or PI) and the insurer would allow claimants to use a solicitor of their choice provided that solicitor accepted their fee structure.

I see. I really dont need anymore trauma right now.

Well you only need to make one call to the insurer - they'll have been asked this question before and should be able to give you immediate advice on changing solicitors.

You don't have to use the solicitors in your insurance company if you have paid the extra for legal expenses for your insurance. Normally it has £50,000 thrashold.
