Traffic lights also go:

Amber
Red
Flashing Amber (no Red)
Green

Although this variation seems most common at pedestrian crossings. And it is permissible to drive off at the flashing amber stage although you must give way to any pedestrians still on the crossing.

We have magic lights on the duel carriageway near us. The sometimes go directly from red to green and back again and sometimes use amber. It's because they've magic and know if there are cars approaching or waiting an how far away they may be. Freaked me right out the first time I saw them in action.

Yes 3 points and a £60 fine. It happened to me on an empty road when I was lost in the middle of the night and was looking for a road sign. Don't stress yourself but be very careful as 12 points and you'll get a ban - unless you are a celebrity......

Same thing happened to me the light seemed to go from green to red in about 1 second. Often wonder if they control them to catch people out to make money.

Happened to DH and we never heard so you may be lucky.
