DH works in an industry linked with the construction industry and so has suffered horribly from the credit crunch. He's worked for one company for the past 10 years which has reduced his salary by 20% and Made varoous other cut backs. They havehad several rolling weeks of lay off usually 2 or 3 in a row and often reduced him down to a 3 day week. At the start of october he was informed he would be laid off again and was later told he could go to work for another company and it would not affect his terms or conditions. This was sent to him in an email. DH went to work for the company (in the republic of ireland so another country) and has been working for them for A month or so. No other work was offered by his original company.
He is contracted to company 2 until just before xmas. Company 1 now has work and has sent him an email with a start date. Dh informed them he is contracted until the end of dec with company 2 and would need to give them 2 weeks. He spoke to the company director informally who said it was fine and then they sent him and email demanding he return to work next week.
He is now absolutely fed up.
