Dear Members,
I received a letter to my address without any name to be addressed to but it s written "if undelivered please return to" sender with a po box sender address.
I would be grateful if you could tell me what is the best to do without opening the letter. The envelope is written "Private & Confidential".
I have been living in the present address for 12 months but never happen before.
Many thanks in anticipation.

Open it and tell us who it is from- the power of mumsnet will protect you.

ChippingInAutumnLover · 30/10/2011 16:29

Honest to cheese - you really have to stop believing so much nonsense. You have now been told who it's from - it will be for double glazing/insurance/new front door - just open the silly thing & when you have, bung it in the recycling like the rest of us.

It worries me that you are so scared of your own shadow - what can we do to help?

Another way to check the address, use RoyalMail Postcode Finder. Click Find an Address and enter the postcode. I suggest entering RG42 9HN as that is what the code I suspect is meant to be as it matches with the Box Number. RG12 9HN appears to me to be residential street. RG49 9HN results in Box 4139 Push It Media Ltd.
I can not locate a listing for Push it Media Ltd at Companies House. However Companies House WebCheck database says that Push Mailing Ltd was previously Pushit Media Ltd (date of change 4-Sept-09).

So I think it's reasonable to presume that Push Mailing sent you it. Why and who it's actually from we don't know... until you open it.

mousyfledermaus · 30/10/2011 20:04

open it. we receive at least two of those letters a week. most of them are from estate agents.

nannynick · 30/10/2011 22:08

Not sure where the RG49 came from, should have been RG42... could blame typing on a phone, but I wasn't at the time.

Gonzo33 spotted it was likely to be Push Mailing on Friday, so not just me thinking it.

Go on, open it. It's bound to be junk.

nickelbabe · 31/10/2011 10:33

By the way, my comment earlier on it being door-to-door junk mail was confirmed by DH, who is a postman.
really, you have nothing to worry about.

I opened my letter from po box RG42 9HN. It's a flyer from Domino's Pizza.

Trills · 28/10/2013 11:20

I really hope the OP has either opened the letter or not by now - it's two years later!
