Can my DB use a Scottish lawyer to get access to his DD when she's born

Hi there I wonder if someone can clarify something for me please? My step brother (DSB?)is due to become a daddy in July. He and the DM to be have split up and one minute he's allowed to be a part of the babys life and the next minute he's not allowed and she's taking him to the cleaners. It's like watching a donkey with a carrott. He's got a friend in Scotland who has a brilliant solicitor and wants the best advice, but he and the birth mum live in England. Would he be allowed to use the lawyer in Scotland in that case? Also is it possible to get an order drawn up which prevents her from abusing him verbally and by text and which says he will have her 1 night a week etc that she has to abide by? She's currently making his life hell and slandering him and his friends all over fb! It's really pathetic and making him ill

Family law is different in Scotland and England. He would have to engage a English solicitor. Solicitor can also request that verbal abuse stops as if it continues will seek an injuntion. Letter stating this would normally have some effect. Keep txt mess etc as evidence.

That's brilliant news. Thank you so much. I will look for a solicitor for him, I actually don't know where to start ha ha. She's also slandering me all over fb but isn't mentioning names so we can't report her. It's so frustrating cos we just want to concentrate on what's best for the baby.

Find one he feels comfortable with - access can be a long process!! In return message i would just keep stating that u want to sort access out and nothing more. That way no return bad messages - hope it helps

If it is obvious that the Facebook postings refer to you, you can take legal action against her for slander even though you haven't been named. That is unlikely to improve the situation regarding access, though. A letter from a solicitor may be enough to get her to stop. You should also ask Facebook to remove the offending posts.

Now there's an idea. I've blocked her but apparently she's continuing to spread lies.

I've set my brother up with a lawyer and i've got my fingers crossed that this is now the end of it. It's just not right and I can't understand the mentality of some people?!
