Urgent- Query about presenting driving licence at police station

I got stopped for speeding and need to produce my licence. My licence however has my old address on it. What?s worse, producing a licence with incorrect details, or not producing / having ?lost? the licence?

I would think not producing is worse.

Definitely produce it as it is -just explain you will be getting it changed when it is returned.

Make sure you give your new address.

Produce it, say you will change it asap, hope that they are nice about it as you can get a hefty fine for not changing it.

(not that I am giving a lecture, I have just changed mine, had the address from 2 houses ago on it and my maiden name )

You can change the address on your license online so you don't have to send your license away. You start the process here. However, you are unlikely to receive your new license in time to produce it for the police so you should definitely produce it as is and explain you have applied for a change of address.

Got back earlier from the station and having been SHITTING myself after reading some of the worst case scenarios on here, it was not too bad I hope. Basically I took the two bits of my licence, and my passport too. I did the passport a) as other id and b) because I had looked at the option to change my licence address online, and you can do it but to it they draw on passport information. Annoyingly, my passport ran out a few months ago, and I haven't needed to renew as we are not going abroad for the foreseeable future, so why spend the money, I'd thought. Now of course, it meant that there was no way of updating my licence quickly and easily. So I was going to show this and explain that I would have updated the licence asap after I realised it was out of date if I could, but the passport meant I couldn't possibly update and have the licence to produce at the station, but I would now do it asap and PLEEEEASE would they let me off?

What actually happened: pleasant police officer took the documents. I hesitated about whether to mention the address or not. In the meantime, she said mildly 'Is this your new address?' 'Yes (truthfully)' I said nervously. 'OK, so you'll need to fill the bottom slip in here with the new address and when you get the licence back with points on they'll also have changed the address'. She went to enter it all onto the computer while I filled in the slip on my paper counterpart and then gave it all in. And that, once I get the speeding points and pay the fine, will I hope be the end of it .
