We have bought land next door to our home and it is currently being turned into extended garden.

We created a fence within our own boundary ( not on) and it is nearly but not quite finished.
The land is adjacent to a similar property which has been turned into half a dozen flats and, overthe last couple of days someone has put a satelitte dish on one of the support posts - so actually on our property, not just overhanging IYSWIM.

As the fence is not finsihed it is actually in the way of the fences completion and , once we have planted border hedge too , it will be usless to its owners.

The problem is I don't know which flat

Can I get gardeners to take dish down and lay it gently back on their land or do I need to do something else.

And by the way... fucking cheek !

Probably done from ignorance - fair enough to assume a fence is on the boundary. Even then though, would have been civil to ask.

I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't remove it so long as it doesn't get damaged. Might be better to print off some notes and distribute to all the flats explaining the position - for one thing other people may think 'oh, that's a good place to put our dish too'

To be friendly, I'd probably put a short note through the door of each flat, saying that you need whichever of them it belongs to, to remove it immediately as your builders will otherwise have to do it. That would give them the chance to put right their "mistake", without causing an argument.

Yes, I wondered if it was some jobsworth from the tv company did it and the owner hadn't checked or really noticed. Even if they thought it was a boundary fence they have still attached it on our side as it seems to need to face in that direction [sigh]

I think I will do as you suggest and go count how many flats and envelope up some notices to drop through the main front door..

Thank you

And thanks Grimma for the 'thats a good place' thought Grin

Can you follow the cable and trace it back to one individual flat?

pagwatch · 16/10/2010 14:31

no... having checked there is no cable attached yet.
I wonder if they are waiting to see if we complain?

We have typed up some letters giving them three days to take it down or we will lower it into their garden. I am going to take pictures showing it was on our land and showing that is is undamaged when we place it in their garden. Then going to get gardener to finish fence and install gun turret
