lol at struwellpeter! we're the same! People raised eyebrows a bit when we had 3, but it's not that uncommon where we live -now we have 4 we're seen as a bit freaky. I'm dreading the holidays as we just managed last year with the 3 and could still fit in a travel inn room, with 4, so many places to stay get reallly problematic

i have 4...don't consider that large tbh.
i would say 6.

ravenAK · 25/05/2008 23:31

I have 3.

Last year dh & I were at a house party, & set off for the park next morning with ds, dd1, my friend's twins - all under 4 - & my 7 month pg bump.

Bunch of hungover-looking chav lads watched us walk past. One of them called out to dh:

'Oi mate! Have you thought of getting a telly?'

Wow, 4 boys retiredgoth! I didn't read that on your last posts! how old are they all, if you don't mind me asking?

I think that 4 is a large family. 3 is not large at all really, just that extra 1 makes it seem much bigger! which probably sounds ridiculous

My Mum is the youngest of 5, her brothers all went on to have more than 3 children, one of them had 5, of which one of them has 4... (complicated!! )
My Dad is also middle child of 3.

I am the youngest of 3.
Sis: 1DS, 2DDs
Brother: 1 DSS, 1 DD
me: 1 DD

DH is 1 of 3, he's the middle son.

I would love to have 3 myself. not sure DH would though.. he does want one more so, I've plenty of time to work on that.. oh and for my health to improve... oh, ad for DH to work here again, instead of 300 miles away in Sunderland mon-fri.! Actually the last is the most important!!

This may not be the right post for this, but...

Geeky urchin is 11, Feral Urchin is 9, Identical Urchins are 7.

(sorry for hijack)

susiecutiebananas · 25/05/2008 23:47

I"m sure no-one would mind, I did ask you after all!

Golly, I'm sure that 4 boys must make a very loud household! and a lot of punch ups!

My mums older brothers were always fighting...

for me it is 6 kids.

but im one of 10 so it doesn't seem busey unless there are LOADS of kids running around.

Agree re 2 being "correct" esp if boy and girl.

When I was pg with DS2 lots of people asked why I was having another "as you already have one of each" like I was vaguely hoping for a third sex or something

I didn't realise I was going for the Cubs collectors' badge y'know.

Anyway in answer to the OP I would say 4 is a large family. A pal has just had her 4th - a girl after 3 boys - and she has already had "ah, so glad you finally got the girl you wanted" comments. wtf????

struwellpeter · 26/05/2008 00:53

Clary, I know what you mean. When I was expecting dc4 with the possibility of evening up the girl/boy ratios, people would say,'what are you hoping for?' We'd just say,'a baby'.

retiredgoth, that 2 room thing is a bummer isnt it?
