I'm an animal lover. Always surround myself with animals, I use to do dog and cat fostering but had to put a stop on that when we got the dogs we currently have, though would love to get back into it again. One of my favourite animals is chickens lol, I have 22 chickens, 4 turkeys and 7 duck and looking to extend their enclosure so we can get more. I have 6 dogs, 6 cats, 2 sheep, a bearded dragon, 6 guinea pigs and a couple of hermit crabs. I'm not sure how we ended up with everything in 6s, that wasn't intentional at all . I'm currently looking for goats to add to our family . We use to own goats many years ago. Anyone else have a house full of animals. My dream is to get large acreage and run cattle. Let's talk animals. How many do you have? Would you like more? Anyone own and run a farm? Would love to hear your daily routine.

Children all grown up now but when they were young we had lots of rabbits, cats, hamsters. Had geckos and a dog. Many different fish and frogs.

Absolutelty love my chickens. I wouldn't say they are the cheapest to set up and they definitely cost more then the price of eggs for how often they actually give me eggs but they are so calming, I could sit and watch them for hrs.

I would love rabbits but they are illegal to own in Queensland Australia. We do have hares and they are a pest to farming lands.

I don't op, but I'm interested to know how big your property/land is? Is there ever any, er, dispute between your various species or individuals?
I'd love some chickens 😄

I don't have large property i have around 1 and a half acres. My chickens are locked in a vary reasonably large pen that I call the chicken yard and that is to keep them safe from one of my dogs who can't be left alone with them and my cats are indoor cats bcos the same said dogs can't be trusted around the cats and that same said dog is the reason why I no longer foster. He was bought as a guardian dog as we live in the middle middle of know where so to speak and a couple times someone has helped themselves to our property and stole some very expensive tools from my hsubands work ute. so said dog keeps my free range ducks safe, the sheep safe, kids and property safe, nothing can enter our yard so he is great at his job and the best guardian dog but a pain in the back side, we have to put him away when we have visitors because we don't see people often he doesn't understand they are safe and won't let them near the kids or other animals. My cats arnt interested in my bearded dragon so she can free range around the house. For the most part everything works and runs like clock work. It's just a shame I'm unable to take in more dogs for rescuing, that's really hard as I did that for many years, we took on older dumped dogs and let them live out their lives in a warm loving home.

That is a LOT of animals you have a farm on your hands!

I've got 5 children, 3 dogs and 2 guinea pigs! We are looking into getting a cat as well hopefully.

Miraclemuma03 · 21/03/2025 04:27

@StressedQueen love cats. We use to have 21 fostered cats and kittens at one point, eventually they found their forever homes and we put the fostering on hold.
What sort of cat breed are you interested in?

We have a small holding. 12 ewes. 1 ram, 19 lambs.
2 horses.
Ducks, lots of chickens
3 cats that are ours at least 4 that are not.
And so many bloody magpies and rats.

Miraclemuma03 · 21/03/2025 05:23

@Wallywobbles that's awesome. Love that.
I would love large property to take on foster animals. We use to own horse that we had on an ajistment and would bring him home on weekends to ride, brush, treat, but he eventually passed away. We use to also own a pig that use to sit, roll, spin, jump, he got to about 300kg and had to be rehomed due to going through a 3yr drought so husband and I couldn't work and then covid hit and we eventually had to choose between the farm animals or the kids and of course we chose the kids lol but our sheep and goats at the time only went up the road on 400acres of mountain land and the pig went over to the next country town as a kids pet and up until recently I got regular photos and updates.
