Grandparent visits

My in laws live 20 minutes from us, they see their grandchild (our child) every 2-3 weeks, we think this is plenty of contact, but they frequently complain. Is this too little / too much? We very much enjoy family time by ourselves and would find weekly visits restrictive, but are we being unreasonable?

Every two or three weeks is great.

If the grandparents wish to see them more often, maybe you could suggest involvement in a hobby that your children already do. That way your family life is not really impacted.
It could leave you with more flexible time for yourself.
For example:
the grandparents are welcome to watch the children play soccer every home game or
the grandparents are welcome to pick up the grandchildren from swimming each fortnight and drive them home in time for their tea or
the grandparents can ask the grandchildren if the'd like to attend church with them once per month or
the grandchildren attend the library with Granny or
Grandpa is invited to take grandchildren for their haircut.

Be mindful of times when it could be advantageous for all.
Having children who are comfortable to stay with grandparents for longer spells gives you options if you are ill etc.
