What is your experience of girl boy boy birth order?

I've just had my third and final baby and I have had a second boy. He is a delight but I had thought he was a girl throughout pregnancy (my intuition was clearly off...)

I am trying to adjust while awash with hormones and I think my main worry is how the birth order of GBB works.

There are 2 years between each of them and the older 2 get on pretty well in the main. I am worried my girl will be left out.

Thank you.

Congratulations on your little one!

I have GBB and the same sort of gaps as you. It’s great!

Mine are now 8, 6 and 3 (turns 4 in a couple of weeks). They pair up in all possible configurations, sometimes my boys will play together, sometimes the eldest two play together (if it’s a more ‘grown up’ game) and my youngest loves going to his big sister for cuddles/for her to read him a story. They also all play together a lot. If anyone gets left out it’s usually the youngest, as sometimes their games are a bit advanced for him or he “messes it up”. Sometimes I feel like the middle one (boy) doesn’t get as much attention as the others, but I try to remedy that by spending one-on-one time with each of them as much as possible.

Yes, sometimes it’s hard and they fight a lot (mostly the older two), but that would happen with any children, I don’t think that’s related to the number of children or the number/order of girls and boys.

My older two love their little brother loads and wouldn’t be without him (except when he destroys their Lego creations). You’ll be fine!

My eldest is only 7, so maybe not able to give total perspective. We have GBB (twins)G.

My eldest has different thugs she does with each if her brothers even though they are twins so very close. One likes her to read to him. The other won't sit down for a story, but they play "the floor is lava" with ridiculous, sitting-room-wrecking enthusiasm. The twins do play more with each other than with her, but nowshe is getting to an age when she wants some time alone in her room. So at least they don't pester her too much!

Don't know how it works throuh the teenage years though, might be more tricky.

I have a girl and then two boys and it’s wonderful. When my eldest feels left out it’s by choice as her brothers are having a fab time being loud and destructive together. And I love that my youngest has the experience of having both an older sister and an older brother who adore him and love engaging him in different ways.

I'm the girl in this situation. Am very close to my brothers, particularly my youngest brother and have been all my life. I do wish I had a sister but I have a cousin who has filled that gap! I also have two boys and a girl (she is the middle one) and they all get on very well x

Thanks for replying. Do you mind me asking what you miss about having a sister?

I'm (just) pregnant with DC3 and honestly hope it's another boy purely for bedroom sharing reasons. We have larger age gap and the gap between DC1 and DC3 will be about 6.5yrs so far from ideal for the oldest if they end up same sex and sharing together.

If I'm honest... yes. I would love a Sister. Especially since having my own children for some reason.

Im one of three and have a brother and a sister, and me and my brother are the closest pairing out of the three of us by far. I think it depends on personalities rather than sex.
