We are expats so keen to make family friends in our adopted country. Obviously the kids all have their own friends from school, extra curriculars etc and we do have them over for play dates, sleep overs etc. But we are finding it surprisingly difficult to find families who want to be friends with us and who we all get along with. Getting harder as kids get older too.
Any tips? To what extent do you just tell one or two family members to just put up with hanging out with someone who wouldn't be their first choice? Or have you just let family friends drop away once your kids get past a certain age?
