Anyone out there with 5+ kids??

This board seems to be mostly people asking about a third child and even a few asking about second, neither of which constitutes a particularly large family IMO! Anyone about who actually has a load of kids? Don’t get me wrong I know 2/3 has its own challenges but they’re not the same challenges as lots of kids!

I can't even take anyone seriously who has more than 6 children, it's not like how it was "back in the day"

Cloudsandrainnotsunandsand · 15/08/2023 14:42

Did you mean to be so rude? ^

Lillygolightly · 15/08/2023 14:43

I have 5 and I love it!

DC are 18 (almost 19), 13, 5 and the twins are 22 months.

I had them at ages 23, 28, 36 and 40 and DH and I been together 20 years.

I never imagined I would have this many but I feel incredibly lucky that I do.

You had twins so technically would have been 3 if singleton, 🙂

@Justhere4now how terribly judgmental and short sighted of you.

Imagine if people with say more than 2 children went around with the view that they couldn’t take parents of only 1 or 2 seriously. What a load of small brained nonsense!

My nana had 8, and was about the most serious woman you could meet!! A Widow to 8 children at the young age of 46 and was a nurse too. Yes ok it was back in the day, and it doesn’t take a genius to work out her youngest was born in 1961 and why no more followed. That said your comment is still tremendously offensive, the number of children a person has does not reflect on how serious or respectable a person is. Imagine if someone judged you in the same way for the same thing! I can very much imagine you wouldn’t like it!

I stated it's not like how was "back in the day", meaning "back in the day" I can understand, but nowadays having 6 or more children unless multiples to me I can't take them seriously end of conversation

Lillygolightly · 15/08/2023 15:32

@Justhere4now Well I suppose that’s your opinion and you are of course entitled to it. I do wonder though what brings you to that conclusion? What is it about 6+ children that means you can’t take the person seriously?

I myself should have 6, I lost a little boy during pregnancy before falling pregnant my twins so by all accounts I could well be one of those people you can’t take seriously. I’m sterilised now so I won’t be having any more, 5 is enough for me…but who am I to say that 7 is too many for someone else. I don’t see myself as being in a place to judge others by the number of their offspring.

Tbh I don't care what people think or say about me because I know myself and I know what I have achieved and still achieving.. Everyone is entitled to their opinion doesn't mean I won't disrespect them, i just wouldn't socialise /communicate with them after I found out ( nobody going to lose sleep over it etheir).

I lost a little boy during pregnancy before falling pregnant my twins. Answer is self explanatory really you most likely wouldn't of had twins, sorry, for your loss btw.

@Justhere4now so very sorry to hear about your own loss.

@Justhere4now so very sorry to hear about your own loss.

Can't tell if that is genuine or not seen as I copied and pasted something you mentioned and didn't mention anything about my loss(never experienced loss in a way you mentioned btw).Goodbye, hope you feel better soon

Lillygolightly · 15/08/2023 16:11

@Justhere4now no not sarcastic at all, I didn’t read it that way, I read it as though you had also suffered a loss in which case I was expressing my heartfelt sympathies for.

My apologies, I had obviously not read things correctly.

mummytoanangel1985 · 16/08/2023 20:48

I have 5 of my own, 1 step son & were ttc our final little one #7 🤦🏻‍♀️ not going to lie but after a 10yr age gap between my last two it was a shock to the system! So a little nervous but this is what we want & will DEFINITELY be our family complete! Lol

I had my first at 25 and 9th just before i was 45.

I had my 9th just before I turned 45 too but my first at 20.

IVFbeenverylucky · 21/08/2023 21:33

I'm expecting my third shortly. Am undecided about a fourth - in my heart I'd like one but I'm 41 and money/time are not infinite. Just wanted to agree that I find it very weird the way so many people think 4, let alone 3, is a large family. I grew up as one of three in the 80s and it was just normal - loads of people had 3 kids. I know the average has gone done but that's mainly because lots of people don't have any and more people start late and are only able to have one. I think a large family is five kids or more. The largest I've ever known had 11.

BananaSlug · 21/08/2023 23:35

People do, I had someone telling me i should have thought about it before I had a " large family" (4)

skeletonbones · 30/09/2023 13:02

I have 5 children. 2 in their 20's 1 in junior school, a 3 year old and a newborn. 18 when I had my first 42 with my latest baby who I presume is my last.

CrazyMum4 · 02/11/2023 20:06

I have 4 and really considering a 5th (mine are 9 8, 6 & 1) and I'm 30

I have more than 5 - and I agree with you, I don't think a family of 3-4 kids is particularly large. In fact, in my family, if you have 3 kids, you are considered a small family.

Seeleyboo · 12/11/2023 13:44

I have 5. My Auntie has 9 kids and 22 grandchildren and great grandchildren and she's only 61

flapjackfairy · 12/11/2023 13:56

I have 5 ranging from 33 to 10. 4 still at home. Our youngest is adopted and I am trying to persuade dh we have space and energy for one more but so far he is not convinced!

oneinamillieon · 13/11/2023 13:14
