Do you ever feel finished having babies?

Hi all

I'd be keen to get views on this (especially any lockdown mummas). I am mum to two gorgeous children (3 and 1) but have been constantly wondering about a third.

The problem is (bit of an overthinker) I'm not sure whether this is mainly due to the feeling I lost out on the baby experience with my youngest (born a few days after the first lockdown was announced so I found maternity extremely lonely and tough - it started and ended in lockdown) or whether actually its because I'm not done having children and I yearn for it again. My husband is keen but I'm conscious it is expensive and 3 kids is a huge decision and could change our family dynamics.

I know I'm extremely lucky to have two healthy children but I am wondering whether lots of people feel like this or whether actually it was clear when you felt done.

Please be kind in your responses - sorry for the long post! Trying to decide whether to hold on to all the baby gear or sell it.

Hi @anotherbaby3, I’m actually 31 weeks pregnant with our third baby at the moment so we decided in the end to go for it - we debated for another few years and waited until we knew whether it was a phase or we really wanted the dynamic of 3 (and whether we could manage the costs/logistics) but given we were still ‘what if’ after 3 years we decided we might regret it if we didn’t. My two DS are so excited and being a bit older (6 and 4) they have been able to be more involved in the pregnancy which is lovely!

Good luck with whatever you decide 🙂

Awww so glad I asked! Congratulations 😊 So happy for you. 6 and 4 are much better ages to manage a baby with I think, it is just another ball game completely with the two year gap and I sort of expected it for the first few months but I actually find a 1 year old such hard work right now. Between that and the potty training (going terribly) 😂 It makes me think I’m never doing this again but I 100% wouldn’t be okay with not doing it again! It was age 4 for my current baby I said to the doctor doing my csection when she asked if I wanted another one in future.

There’s something just so unexciting about being done and feeling like there’s no more surprises coming! Good luck with the baby 😊
