How Many Kids Do You Want?

28 replies

nymrgn · 02/05/2020 02:13

I feel quite lonely and bored during this quarantine so discussing things here has really helped.

Just curious how many kids you'd like and why? Don't want this to turn into anything controversial just a nice discussion. Smile

As this is under the larger families tab, is it ok if people who want smaller families chip in?

nymrgn · 04/05/2020 20:52

@Desiringonlychild Of course! x

None, the kids are taking it pretty bad Grin

I'm an only child myself and have always wanted two children as I was lonely and EXTREMELY spoilt!

I'm absolutely fascinated with the Radford family though! Those kids seem equally cared for and loved and so happy. Hats off to them!!

KindnessCrusader · 04/05/2020 21:07

Have 4, want 6. Can't biologically have any more but keen to adopt in the next 5 years.

Malysh · 04/05/2020 21:10

Always felt like 3 was a magical number but keen to stop at 2 as I'm a single parent travelling a lot for work and I feel like that's all I can handle !

I also wanted them to be close in age. Ideally one year apart. Unfortunately they'll be almost 20 months apart. Those are things we don't always control.

  1. I wouldn't need to move house (I have a 2 bedroom flat), and I like the area I live in. My DC would be Chinese Jewish so it's important for me that he/she grows up in a multicultural neighborhood with Jewish schools, synagogue and also a big Chinese community. My current neighborhood in London has both. A 3 bedroom house in the neighborhood is also £1 million.
BayWindow · 04/05/2020 21:28

I've got 1 but would like 3

notny · 05/05/2020 09:26

@Mrsappleby 😂😂

notny · 05/05/2020 09:28

@justtb I know, what an amazing family they are!

Pipandmum · 05/05/2020 09:28

I always said I wanted five kids. Then I got to 40. Then I had two and that was totally enough! (Had two step kids who moved in too so really really was enough). But I think if I had been younger when I got married and my husband had none it might have been more.

Itisbetter · 05/05/2020 09:30

My family are older now, but I originally wanted six.

NoRoomInBed · 05/05/2020 09:31

Got 3 would like 5. Only money is stopping me

TeddyIsaHe · 05/05/2020 09:33

I have 1 dd and would like one more child. Dp wants 2. I have said to him when he is able to gestate and carry a baby to full term he can have as many as he wants!

juiceboxx · 05/05/2020 09:42

I've got 1 atm but would like 5 x

Itisbetter · 05/05/2020 10:08

I’m not sure what this tells you or how it’s a discussion??? Surely it’s a bit like asking “What’s your favourite colour, and why?”Confused

notny · 05/05/2020 10:12

@Itisbetter Oh well, if you're not interested keep scrolling hun.

TheGinGenie · 05/05/2020 10:24

I'd like 4 but I'm in my mid 30s with none yet and no prospect of any soon. I can't afford to have one let alone 4, so I am resigning myself to probably having none in reality

Itisbetter · 05/05/2020 10:44

That’s kind of you @notny you had so many choices, answer the questions in my post, scroll past my post because it didn’t interest or didn’t require response, join the discussion, ....

@TheGinGenie Maybe you could have one in the future, or you could foster/ adopt when you're financially able to? x

1990shopefulftm · 05/05/2020 11:06

We re hoping to have two, I m pregnant with our first so will see how this goes and if all goes well then a 2-3 year age gap would be lovely.

notny · 05/05/2020 11:11

@1990shopefulftm Congratulations! Best wishes. X

1990shopefulftm · 05/05/2020 11:14

@1990shopefulftm thank you :)

Songbird232018 · 05/05/2020 12:51

One (boy aged 2) and done :) he fits so perfectly into life and we can both still work full time, we are Incredibly lucky to have 4 retired grandparents who watch kiddo 4 days a week.
I like the idea of another but realistically life world change so much and we wouldnt be able to do our couples nights away etc holidays would be very expensive in school and one of is would have to drop some work /pay childcare aswell couldnt expect the 70 year old grandparents to do it all over again with a new baby.
