DD2 wants to be a big sister and DS1 wants a dog - What should we do?

I always wanted a big family but after DD settled in we felt content and happy with our family. Really happy. DD is 4 now and keeps asking to be a big sister. As a family we’ve always wanted a dog but have been waiting until we were able to be at home to look after a dog. - What would you do?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We voted as a family and got a dog. Best decision ever!

Get her a doll

Candyfloss99 · 02/04/2020 22:27

You don't get a dog to appease a 4 year old.

She will be a big sister.....to the dog

You make important life decisions which will affect you in the long term on your own, without letting your kids dictate what you do?

Just a thought.

Ragwort · 02/04/2020 22:35

Personally neither, surely you and your DH get to decide not give in to what your children want ? Hmm

ineedaholidaynow · 02/04/2020 22:35

How many children do you have?

At this moment of crisis I would have thought the last thing people should be thinking about is having another child

Daisydrum · 03/04/2020 08:59

Thank you, it’s helpful and interesting to have everyone’s point of view. (I have two children.)

How many children you have is irrelevant. You shouldn't (a) have another child or (b) get a dog purely because your children say so. Those are major life decisions that get made by grown ups.

Neither
