How much gas and electric for a family of 5/6?

I was wondering roughly what people are paying? Wondering what to expect to be paying once we move (and I become responsible for the bills for the first time in years) - For 4 kids, washing machine on min once a day, often twice. Dishwasher on once a day. Probably 4 baths or showers per day between us.

Heating a 4 bedroom house at around 20 degrees.

Any ideas? I litrally have no idea and I am trying to work out what to budget!

Family of 7 here in a 3 bed house. We are home all day. We pay £98 a month for both.

Make sure you shop around for your energy, I found a really good deal for me - family of 4 adults, 3 bed house, washing machine on about about 9 times a week, dishwasher on daily, heating on in evenings and occasionally weekend daytime during winter. I found Sainsbury energy was the best for me, £30 a month plus a £100 voucher to spend in store. So far so good - this is for fixed term.

Ours is around £85 dual fuel via Direct Debit. We have a 1930s house, detached, 4 beds but only 1100 sqft. We have solar panels. I am a SaHM and the CH is on whenever we need it. I switch to the cheapest tariff every year using the MSE energy club. Remember your initial few bills will not give an accurate picture as it will be more expensive over the winter and you've not built up a credit yet.

ow £30 sounds shockingly cheap for gas and electricity! Ours has always been at least £65 even in a small modern house with just 2 of us!

We pay £55 for a family of four.

£76 pcm - 2 adults, 2 teenage boys. lots of laundry and showers

Have also budgeted for water bill, council tax, broadband. Is there anything else I have forgotten about? Wont be getting sky or anything like that (unless we ene up with a tv package included in a broadband deal or something)

insurance
tv licence
parking permit
cleaning stuff, gardening stuff
various things to make the house work you - shelving, lamps, curtains etc
agency fees (including inventory) - move in and move out

Do people usually get insurance on a rented house? We dont really have much valuable.

Life insurance is another to add to the list

contents insurance. I don't know where the landlord;s responsibility ends and yours begins. eg if a burglar breaks a window or damages the door, who is repsonsible. (I've got a feeling it might be yours - ditto if you get a mice infestation that wasn't there when you took on the tenancy).
