Our Renault scenic is on it's last legs and we need to purchase a new 7 seater. It needs to be roomy. Although we won't be using the boot seats on a daily basis as my eldest ds rarely comes out with us, it does need to be big enough for the odd holiday / day trip where we all go. I have 3 huge strapping teenage ds and a 10 year old dd, so relaly it's like having 5 adults and a child. We have had a Zafira a few years back and loved it but I'm worried about reports of newer models bursting into flames.
Any help appreciated !

We had Peugeot 807. All full size seats and plenty of space. Now have Chrysler grand voyager which is definitely better. The unused seats fold into the floor giving absolutely masses of spec. We're about to go on holiday, 6 people, 6 loads of lots of luggage (sporting holiday so equipment too) and we don't need the roof box. The boot space alone even with all seats in use is huge.

We are howe've changing cars next year as we will then only need 5 seats with 2 occasional ones and we are considering either Land rover discovery sport or the Mercedes E class estate. (I think?) It's a merchant estate anyway with 2 additional fold away seats in the boot.

What wasn't clear to me was if you constantly need all 7 seats, or if it is mainly 5 but 2 occasional emergency seats, and age and size of who would go in those 2, in addition to your luggage requirements. That would make a huge difference on what you would consider/strike off.

Thankyou everyone, I will look into all your suggestions. Ernest - it will be mainly 5 most of the time ( 2 adults, 2 huge teenage boys and an 11 yr old dd). Occasionally it will be another huge teenage ds too although he hasn't been on holiday with us for a couple of years now. I need something with a lot of boot space as no doubt they will be going off to Uni in the next few years and we always seem to be needing to take stuff to the tip or replacing furniture etc.
