Just wondering those of you who had the first 3 dc close together and ended up having one more ,what age gap did you decide to have between last 2. Would be interesting to see as i don't really hear 4dc where 3 close in age then one further apart. But who knows? Smile

Oh mine used to bicker horribly in their teens, Three. Don't worry Smile once they started moving on & weren't on top of each other relationships improved a lot.

Gaps are 11 months, 2 years and 6 years. Oldest 14YO, youngest 5 YO.

The advantage of having a gap is that when faced with a huge amount of hormones, eye rolling, storming off and huffing around about seemingly trivial matters (breakfast cereal) you still have one excited about the subject under huffage "Yey. I love weetabix - it's my favourite." There is still one of these amazing little people lapping up new experience and wanting to be with you all the time. And it is a delight to have chubby arms holding you tight.

The negative? Being older. Having less enthusiasm for the younger's activities - helping someone learn to read for a fourth time is a little tedious tbh. Trying to find things to do that will interest everyone. The thought I will be approaching retirement when the youngest leaves uni.

If you're thinking about it. I say do it. We all love our DS4. He has added something to all our lives. Though DS3 probably wouldn't always agree Wink

My gap is huge.....when I had dc4, I had dd1 almost 15, ds1 almost 14 and ds2 was 9

9 days short of a year between dc3 and dc4. They are "Irish twins" born in the same year

Pilgrimforever · 14/06/2015 19:28

DC1 - DC2. 4 and a half years
DC2 - DC3. 19 months
DC3 - DC4. 15 months
DC4 - DC5. 13 months

Really interesting thread! Reassures me somewhat that a large gap between dc's 3 &b4 won't be terrible. Not even pregnant with dc4 yet... :)

12 months. One of the best things we ever did!

I have ds 11, dd1 8 and dd2 almost 7. We are ttc dc4. I always wanted 4 or 6 but after dd2 I felt i was at maximum capacity!! Now i have just turned 39 and have suddenly become so broody. I just feel another wee person would really complete our family.

How old are your dc op? Are you ttc?

Wenglish · 02/07/2015 10:17

2 1/2 years

Wenglish · 02/07/2015 10:18

Oh 2 1/2 years between dc3 and dc4.

answersonapostcardplease · 02/07/2015 10:20

3, 4 and 3 years between my 4.

BathshebaDarkstone · 02/07/2015 10:57

Not quite like that, DS and DD1 14 months apart, DD1 and DD2 16 years apart, DD2 and DS2 4 years apart.
