Kia sedona, who's got one and what do you think of it?

We are expecting dc4 in August. We currently have a Volvo v70 estate and poor dsd1 can't actually fit between the car seats of dd1 & dd2 anymore so it is time to bite the bullet.

We looked at the Chrysler voyager but think the Kia sedona had better bang for our buck. Going to test drive a few tomorrow but would be very interested to hear any reviews from people who have one in the real world, i.e. not a motoring journalist who seem to despise all people movers on principle.

We had one a couple of years ago and I loved it! The only reason I got rid of it was because of the high car tax (in Ireland), I just couldnt afford almost 400 euro every quarter. Lovely comfy seats, really handy sliding doors, lots of room, I have nothing bad to say at all about it.

We have one and I love it although I must admit I do park a bit further away in the supermarket etc as I am slightly worried about parking. Had a Zafira before and could park that anywhere.

As elah said the seats are lovely and comfy and when you first buy it the interior feels enormous!! People comment on how big it is inside.

The electric doors are really handy as I open them from a distance which means I can put things in straight away with no messing around opening doors. A negative is they do not have a sensor in them which can be tricky if you have children pressing the buttons inside. My dd almost got caught by one a few weeks ago but that is the only incident in 2 years.

We looked at the Chrysler as well but the Kia won on value for money.

Ours is a diesel model.

I would def recommend it. There are 7 of us and its been great in terms of size.

We have one that is about 3 years old - it is fine. Bit of a big beast - wide on narrow roads and in car parks, both otherwise good. Older models I think were not so good - I know somoeone who has an older one and hates it. I think also they don't sell them new now.

MPG for our diesel seems to be about 35 - regardless of driving (eg, motorway, town). Seats heavy to remove, but all full size seats with seatbelts. Spacious, sliding doors are useful.

apologies for abandoning the thread. Thank you for your replies. We did go and see a few and agreed that we will get one. Looking at an 09 model. Driving position is very different but i am sure we will get used to it.

I love the fact that i can take the middle seat out of the second row and create a corridor so that DSD and DD1 can get into the back seats without having to either climb over the boot or over the babies car seats in the second row. I loved that in the Voyager and love the fact it is possible in the Sedona too.

just thought i would update for anyone searching the archives. Ended up buying a 2009 Sedona and absolutely love it. It fits us all with so much space it is great and i can fit my double buggy (Baby Jogger City Select , so not small) in the boot with the rear seats up.

My husband hates it and claims it has taken all the fun out of driving but he didnt really want to get a new car in the first place so i am sure it will eventually grow on him .

at hubby hating it. Mine loves ours..recons he has nothing to prove car wise when he's driving a full seven seater

I might suggest that to him. He should see it as a public sign of his virility rather than the soul destroying mini Mum-Mobile he currently views it as.
