Dc4 on the way all being well...

My washing is already mountainous and I frequently spend most of the weekend putting clean clothes away.

Anyone have any tips on organising this element of being a larger family? (I have a decent size washing machine and tumble dryer thankfully). it's not so much the getting stuff clean as getting it put away!!

Thanks

I put clothes into piles for each person as it is ironed or folded from the tumble drier. Each pile is then sorted by drawer. DS1 puts all of his away. DS2 puts socks and pants away and I do the rest.

The sock box is the only thing that keeps me sane on Monday mornings. Also the fact that dds and I all have roughly the same size feet and use the same multipack black socks.
The shout of no pudding failed today, as I had already thoughtlessly said there wasn't a pudding due to the fridge crisis (see the Exploding Orange Juice thread).

I always buy different patterned socks but would you believe I have about 150 in the sock drawer currently and no idea where the other one is! I tried all black socks at one point put the chance of a pair then was totally hopeless as you'd get v long sock, with heel half way up the leg and a mini sock with heel half way down the foot! Mind you I do have to attend to socks for 24 feet in my family Grin

wash when I get round to it, some days, like when I change the sheets its on back to back. Dunno how I'd cope without tumble dryer. Get it out of tumble dryer and put ds1 & 2 clothes on 1 pile, (big blue ikea bag) all other in other pile. Carry the piles to relevant landing (ds1 & 2 sleep on different floor. ds1 & 2 (12 & 11) sort out their own (usually after leaving it for 4 nights so the cat sleeps on it Hmm).

I sort the rest into piles pp, then put it away. Once they're say 6 they put their own stuff away.
