This may sound rediculous but i love seeing my friends and their children going over for tea and playdates etc but my good friends only have 2 children and i have 3, considering a fourth but i was wondering if i could end up socially excluding myself as friends may think i dont want to invite me over has i would have a noisy and heticlarge brood

My bf has one and invites me and my 4 over at least weekly, however she is the only one of my friends to do so.

thats good and dont get me wrong i could understand why they wouldnt, and i know my good friends would still be just that but maybe could just feel a little overwhelmed with four plus their own round to play

Real friends would invite you if you had ten children.

Are you talking about REAL friends or status friends or work colleagues?

Is socially excluding yourself your only consideration when thinking about having another child?

Have as many as you want - real friends will embrace it all the way.

We have stopped inviting one particular family because two of their four children are badly behaved, aggressive and rude and I find having them in my house stressful, not because they have four children. We have lots of other friends with big families who we entertain on a regular basis.

we dont get invited and if we do they always ask if ds2 is coming as he has adhd and poss aspergers they cant cope and im always hurt by the comment so i have lost many a friend this way

i try to surround myself with like minded people but always come a cropper when it comes to mum and baby groups when i get the inevitable "god you must be mad" type comments

though if we were to decide to have another this would not play a part in making my mind up

threecurrantbuns · 07/03/2011 13:12

belly thats really Sad and not on! Do they know about ds's adhd and poss aspergers? If so then i feel a bit Angry on your behalf. And go for you surrounding yourself with like minded.

Way i see it if you adding another four children into your household to play with theones that are already there its going to be caotic anyways so what diff does it make Grin

threecurrants- yes they do know, i think they are more of the veiw that stuff like adhd/aspergers is a made up condition for naughty kids urrrggghh and yes it does make me a tad Angry

i think after num2 i got so annoyed with the comments about how mad i must be for having more and shouldnt i get my tubes tied now (< mostly from mil) ect ect that trying to get to know others like myself with the larger than average family was very important for my sanity i think

ive made some fab friends online some of which we have met and formed solid bonds one especialy whome we are spending a weeks holiday with during the summer she has 6 children and so with my 4 we should have a ball Grin
