My non Jewish daughter has been invited to a bat mitzvah- please can I have recommendations for a suitable gift amount to give?

she has just started a new school in yr 7 and has known the girl for a month, it is NW London Private school if that helps?

Multiples of 18 are common money gifts at joyous celebrations, because 18 is the sum of the numerical value of the letters in the Hebrew word for life. So, if you would normally spend £20 on a gift for a school friend, give her £18. If you’d normally spend £30-£40, give her £36.

Though, really, the actual amount doesn’t matter. Making it a multiple of 18 shows you’ve acknowledged a Jewish tradition, that’s all.

I think £18/£36 and an actual bat mitzvah card. My daughter was so happy when people made the effort (easy to find online or make your own).
